What’s on in Perth this Summer?

There are few things more glorious than a Perth Summer as far as we’re concerned. Beckoning beaches, picnics, festivals… we really are spoilt for choice when it comes to entertainment. It’s the three months of the year most of us live for – and it’s nearly here. We’ve rounded up a selection of the best hotspots and happenings to check out in this beautiful city of ours.

  1.     Scarborough Sunset Markets

Each Thursday evening from 5pm, Perth’s iconic Scarborough beachfront comes to life with live music, gourmet street food, local artist’s works and curated pop up stores. With a hefty 85 vendors, there’s no shortage of choice when it comes to entertainment, retail therapy or culinary delights. Sipping an ice cold bevvy with your toes in the sand never felt so good.

  1.     Somerville – Perth Festival

Pack yourself a picnic supper and head over to the lush gardens of UWA with some pals for Perth’s most picturesque silver screening. Nestled amongst the gum trees, bring a blanket and snuggle up for a world movie under the stars. Hot tip: BYO vino for maximum enjoyment! Door sales from 6pm nightly. Head to www.perthfestival.com.au for screenings.

  1. Rocky Pool Walk

As much as we love it, Perth can be a bit of a bubble. Set aside a couple of hours of your day and trade in the hustle and bustle for a dose of nature. The Rocky Pool walk is a 5km loop in Kalamunda National Park, with plenty to see along the way. With seasonal wildflowers, wildlife and spectacular valley views along the way – this is both a challenging and rewarding bush walk. To begin, head to the carpark at the end of Spring Road, Kalamunda and walk in a northerly direction. Happy hiking.

  1. Pizza Night at The Local on Waratah

Donned by The Urban List as one of Perth’s best pizza places, the Local on Waratah is our fave place of the moment to wine and dine. Famous for their Peking Duck Pizza – you’ll spy a selection of seriously gourmet pizza pies on the menu here, along with a variety of local wines and craft beer. Treat yourself on a Tuesday to glass of Knee Deep wine or a cold one from Black Brewing Co. on the house with any pizza. Cheers to that!

  1. Swan Valley Wine Tour

With the launch of Swan Valley’s new hop on/hop off bus service this month – there has never been a better excuse to explore the region’s wineries and eateries. With over 20 stops and buses running every half hour, planning your itinerary at your own leisure has never been so convenient. Whether you’re planning a special occasion or just impartial to the odd tasting, you’re guaranteed a good time with a day out in the valley. Buses run 7 days a week with tickets from $20 pp. Go on.. wine not?! Get your tickets online at goadams.com.au/swanvalleyexplorer.
